SikaFields Holds a Successful Stakeholder Engagements

SikaFields, Esoko's dedicated spin-off for grassroots carbon removal projects across Africa, recently hosted a stakeholder engagement event aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between key players in the environmental and agricultural sectors. Held with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Forestry Commission, Ministry of Agriculture, district directors, farmer groups, community leaders, in-put dealers, and academic experts from the various geographical locations the project will operate. This meeting marks a major milestone for SikaFields as it works toward addressing climate change through grassroots efforts. The engagement aimed to:

  1. Build  Awareness: Introduce SikaFields' mission and vision to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while economically empowering farmers and rural communities.
  2. Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Forge strong partnerships with governmental bodies, academic institutions, and private sector representatives to ensure the successful rollout of SikaFields’ carbon credit projects.
  3. Discuss  Carbon Credit Opportunities: Highlight the benefits of carbon credits for smallholder farmers and businesses, outlining how SikaFields aims to facilitate a transparent, technology-driven platform for trading carbon credits.
  4. Foster     Local Participation: Encourage local communities to actively participate in carbon removal initiatives through sustainable land     management practices such as agroforestry, reforestation, and sustainable     farming.

During the event, SikaFields' Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Daniel Asare-Kyei, underscored the importance of empowering rural communities to take an active role in addressing climate change. As he noted, “Climate change has traditionally been an elite conversation, excluding the very people who are most affected by it—our farmers. With SikaFields, we want to change that narrative and ensure that smallholder farmers are not only part of the solution but also economically benefit from it.”
